Our ambitions will usually dictate how we will live our lives and often in our ambition to aspire for greater things, we end up hurting others without us even knowing it. Many ambitious individuals have achieved their goals at the expense of others and GOD doesn't like this. James and John didn't know what they were asking when they (and their mother) requested JESUS to grant them "nice seats" next to HIM in HIS glory. JESUS immediately knew their selfish ambition that irked the rest of apostles yet JESUS gently told them the truth that GOD, is the only one who will decide (Mark 10:35-40 / Matthew 20:20-28).
