Work is indeed a blessing and we are all encouraged to work as if we are working for the LORD with sincerity of heart by obeying our earthly masters (Colossians 3:22-23). If we work happily, GOD will surely bless our work and everything we do (Deuteronomy 15:10). Yet we are also reminded that we work not to enrich ourselves but to sustain our earthly lives by meeting essential needs as well as to bring blessings to others. Ruth worked so hard as she picked up every grain stalk she could see when Boaz took notice of her (Ruth 2:2-6). When Boaz heard about Ruth's kindness, she came close to her and even advised the harvesters to drop more barley stalks so that she would have extra to pick up on her way home to Naomi (Ruth 2:15). This made Naomi happy and praised GOD for the favor and blessings they received.
