Sometimes we work hard for the unneccessary things we want in life that we tire ourselves out. But the WORDS of JESUS tell us that we should not work for food that spoils but for food that endures to eternal life (John 6:27). JESUS also tells us not to store up treasures on earth where they rot, get destroyed or get stolen but rather we should build up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-20). The Parable of the Rich Fool is an excellent reminder that we should be on guard against all kinds of greed for a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions (Luke 12:15). When the rich fool decided to build a bigger barn for his abundant crops so that he could take life easy and stay merry by eating and drinking, he wasn't aware and prepared of the tragic fate that he was about to encounter (Luke 12:16-20).
